Tighter Skin without Surgery
The Thermage procedure may reduce the signs of aging skin, giving
you a more youthful appearance. Also called ThermaLift, ThermaCool.
The Thermage procedure is performed with a technology cleared by the
US FDA for the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and tightening of the skin on the face and neck.
What is the Thermage procedure?
The Thermage procedure is an advanced way of attempting to tighten skin that
requires only the application of a sophisticated treatment tip to your skin.
It is performed with an advanced radio frequency device called ThermaCool
TC and requires no incisions or recovery time.
Is it safe?
The Thermage procedure is very safe. Although it is possible that skin damage
can occur, this advanced treatment has been studied carefully in hundreds
of patients with few reports of lasting adverse events.
How long does it take?
The Thermage procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending
on the size of the area you are having treated. Additional time may be required
for skin preparation prior to the procedure.
When will I see results?
In most patients, results appear gradually in 2 to 6 months, although some
patients see an earlier response.
How long will the effects of the Thermage procedure last?
Published studies show that improvement may continue for at least 6 months
after a single treatment session. Other studies show that thermal collagen
changes may in theory last several years, depending on the rate of the aging
process.
How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in a significant number of patients.
However, Dr. Adrian will assess the number and frequency of treatments required
to achieve optimal results for your skin.
How long before I can return to my normal activities?
Most people return to their regular activities immediately following the Thermage
procedure. Some people experience mild redness (like a sunburn), but it usually
disappears quickly. There is no special care needed after treatment, but
sunscreen is recommended as a part of good skin care.
How does it work?
The top layers of your skin are protected with a cooling spray while radio
frequency energy heats the collagen in the lower layers. This heating action
causes deep structures of your skin to tighten immediately. Over time, new
collagen may grow to further tighten your skin and produce a more youthful
appearance.
Does the thermage procedure always work?
Unfortunately not. In our experience over 25% of patients did not
achieve significant benefit so it is best to avoid physicians who
make over zealous claims about the procedure. Remember this procedure
is not a face-lift but produces mild to moderate non-surgical skin
tightening in some patients. The exact reason for patient variability
is not known but these facts must be considered prior to your decision
to proceed.
How much does treatment cost?
We are Washington's lowest cost provider of Thermage procedures with
fees ranging from $1000-$3000 depending on the number of sites treated.
