WHAT IS LIPOLITE? LipoLite is an exciting program offered at The Center for Laser Surgery that specifically targets localized fat and cellulite. This NON-SURGICAL treatment program uses microinjections of a fat dissolving substance that literally melts away fat in just a few short treatment sessions. Our approach is unique in the Washington area since we combine the injection of a fat-dissolving product (phosphatidylcholine) with our FDA-approved fat mobilizing and cellulite treatment device VelaSmooth. This combination treatment is very effective in improving cellulite and localized fat in the abdomen, love handles, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, and neck.
WHY NOT LIPOSUCTION? Liposuction cannot be used to treat cellulite and in fact often ends up making it worse. LipoLite treats cellulite directly resulting in a smoother skin surface. In addition, our non-surgical “targeted” fat reduction is not associated with any downtime as seen with surgical liposuction which is invasive and occasionally a dangerous surgical procedure. Phosphatidylcholine (PTC) is a natural soy-derived product that is one of the components used in our LipoLite program. This product has been used safely in thousands of patients throughout the U.S., South America, and Europe. Phosphatidylcholine is made soluble by the addition of a naturally occurring bile salt, sodium deoxycholate. In fact, a recent scientific paper out of UCLA suggested that sodium deoxycholate is the major component in the dissolving of fat after treatment. Our sterile phosphatidyl-deoxycholate formula is manufactured by an FDA-approved compounding pharmacy and contains 50mg PTC and 4.75% sodium deoxycholate.
IS LIPOLITE SAFE? LipoLite is extremely promising from a safety aspect. As of 2005 with thousands of procedures there have been no reports of serious or life-threatening complications from therapy.
