Many skin lesions are not dangerous, but are unattractive. Correction may be surprisingly easy and successful.
Facial Moles
Moles tend to be flat early in life and then become raised and “fleshy” with time. Especially on the central face, these may be unsightly. Shave excision of such moles is a quick and inexpensive procedure which often gives dramatic cosmetic improvement.

Facial Moles
Seborrheic Keratoses
These are crusted brown lesions which appear almost universally with age. They are generally harmless but can itch, bleed, or become very thick. Cryosurgery or laser surgery is a very effective way of removing such “barnacles.”
Skin Tags
These are small polyps located usually on the neck and under arms. They can be unsightly and make wearing collars and jewelry uncomfortable. These polyps can be snipped or cauterized for easy and complete removal.
Acne Scarring
Long after inflammatory acne is over, the scarring can remain. Scarring can be deep, as in ice pick scars, or more superficial. A range of procedures to correct scarring is available. These may include microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, use of fillers, avulsion of fibrous scars, and even excision of deep serpentine scars. At the Center we have extensive experience and can tailor a treatment plan to the type of scarring present.
Keloid Scarring
A keloid is a raised, thick, red, and often painful scar. They are more common in darker skin and on the back and chest. Erasing the keloid may not be possible, however diminishing it may be. We have a number of modalities available to do this. They include cortisone shots, laser treatment, immunotherapy, and even excision (occasionally followed by radiation). Used in combination, these treatments may significantly decrease the unsightly appearance of keloid scars.
