The Center for Laser Surgery was founded in 1995 by the late Dr. Robert M. Adrian. Dr. Adrian received his bachelor's degree at Georgetown University College of Arts and Sciences. After completing a Masters degree in Biochemistry at Columbia and Fordham Universities, Dr. Adrian entered Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he was graduated Magna Cum Laude and class valedictorian in 1975.
After a medical internship at the University of Virginia Hospital, Dr. Adrian returned to Georgetown University Medical Center where he completed his Internal Medicine residency. Dr. Adrian was subsequently accepted as a fellow in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. In addition he completed a photomedicine fellowship at the prestigious Wellman Labs at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Adrian conducted numerous clinical research studies in aesthetic and laser medicine and has been involved in the development of many cosmetic laser systems and aesthetic products used worldwide. He personally trained over 5,000 physicians worldwide, as well as the current clinical staff at the Center for Laser Surgery, in laser surgical techniques and published numerous scientific articles pertaining to dermatology, laser surgery, and aesthetic medicine.
Dr. Adrian was board certified in Dermatology, Laser Surgery, and Internal Medicine. He was listed in "Best Doctors In America" published by Woodward White and regularly listed as Washington's leading laser surgeon by Washingtonian magazine. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Adrian also served as clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center.
