Hyperhidrosis Treatment in Washington, DC

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Hyperhidrosis can be focal (armpits, palms, soles) or generalized (whole body). This can affect daily life in an adverse manner. Luckily there are hyperhidrosis treatments aimed at reducing sweating to a more normal level.

Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Focal hyperhidrosis of the armpits, palms, or soles is typically treated through topical treatments including aluminum chloride solutions and wipes and other topical modalities including the recently approved topical medication Qbrexza. These topical therapies require daily or almost daily usage to maintain their effectiveness. Generalized hyperhidrosis is typically treated through oral anti-cholinergic therapy which reduces total secretions. While this can be very effective for patients suffering from generalized hyperhidrosis side effects including dry eyes and dry mouth are common.

Botox Treatment of Hyperhidrosis

Botox is an alternative treatment for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating.  Botox treatment helps control excessive underarm sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from nerves which stimulate the sweat glands to secrete sweat. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, sweating stops, for up to 6 months! Please note, we perform Botox injections for hyperhidrosis as an elective cosmetic procedure and payment is due at time of service. We do not accept or submit for insurance reimbursement under any circumstances. Please call our office for current pricing for Botox Injections for Hyperhidrosis.
